Who Are Your Heroes??? How to walk the Hero’s Journey in your life
Who are your favorite heroes???
- Maybe they're superheroes like Batman or Spider-Man
- Perhaps they're sports legends like Walter Payton
- Or they could be social, political, and religious leaders like Jesus
Today, we're going to explore what you can learn from your heroes to help you on your journey in life.
The Hero's Journey
Recently, I was talking with some students about the hero's journey.
It's the plot structure of the books and movies we love:
- A character has a dream or vision
- They pursue that dream with enthusiasm
- Obstacles and villains appear, tempting them to give up
- Eventually, they find the courage to return to their path
- They overcome their challenges and rise triumphant
- Peace is restored, and they experience a profound internal transformation
We see this journey play out in countless stories
Remember Simba from The Lion King?
As a cub, all he wanted was to be king. But when tragedy struck, he ran away from his destiny. It wasn't until he faced his past and confronted Scar that he truly became the leader he was meant to be.
Or how about Rudy?
His dream of playing football for Notre Dame seemed impossible. He wasn't smart enough, so he studied harder than ever. He wasn't athletic enough, but he never gave up, spending four years on the practice squad. In the end, his perseverance paid off with a moment of glory on the field.
The Real Question
But here's the real question I want you to consider:
Who is the hero if not you???
And where is the journey if not within you???
You are the hero of your own journey.
You came into this world with dreams, visions, and callings that you eagerly want to pursue.
But like any hero, you've faced obstacles:
- Fears that paralyze you
- Doubts that cloud your judgment
- Self-limiting beliefs that hold you back
These challenges might tempt you to run away from your dreams. But here's the truth: As you continue to be courageous and bold, you'll find yourself back on the path to your dreams.
Embrace Your Hero's Journey
So, what can you do to be the hero of your own story?
- Walk your path with courage and boldness
- Confront and overthrow your self-limiting beliefs
- Rise triumphant over your challenges
- Bring peace and prosperity to those around you
- Allow yourself to experience a profound internal transformation
Remember, you are the hero of your journey. The power to overcome, to triumph, and to transform lies within you. It's time to unleash that potential, not just in your game, but in the Larger Game of Life.
I wish you well on your journey of experiencing the Hero's Journey in your life, and I send love, gratitude, peace, and blessings to you.
Inspiring YOU every step of your way,
Kyle
